The Bermuda Regiment Band announced yesterday that Brigadier Melville Jameson is due on the Island to iron out the final details of the performance.

The Band is gearing up to take part in the historical performance at the Edinburgh Tattoo in August.

Regiment Bandmaster Barrett Dill said: "Brigadier Melville Jameson is due on the Island to iron out the final details of the performance.

"There are bands from all over the world, which perform at the tattoo.

"Last year they had a Dutch cycling band which performed, there were also bands from Barbados and the Solomon Islands."

"But, this is the Bermuda Regiment Band's first time - It is an opportunity," said Major Dill.

"As military tattoos go the Edinburgh event is "the most exquisite event in the world.

Bands from Oman, Australia and New Zealand along with the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery and the Flying Gunners Motorcycle Display Team are also expected to perform.

Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Edward Lamb encouraged Bermudians to go to Scotland and fly the Bermuda flag in support of the band.

The Bermuda Regiment Band and the Gombeys will perform in front of audiences totalling more than 100 million people around the world and 200,000 people attend the Tattoo annually.

Major Dill said: Bermuda's participation will cost $350,000 to cover airfare, camp pay, uniforms and equipment. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo Committee will take care of transport, food and lodging.
