Policemen hospitalised after high-speed chase

A high-speed Police chase in Devonshire ended with two Policemen being taken to hospital after they were injured while arresting a suspect.

Members of the cycle squad and the dog unit were involved in the comprehensive sweep of the area near Clay House Inn yesterday morning.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said that officers were on mobile patrol in the area of Vesey Street at 11.21 a.m. when they came across a motorcycle.

They summoned the rider to stop, but he made off, prompting the 20 minute chase through North Shore Road Road to Loyal Hill where the suspect was eventually stopped.

The man resisted arrest, said Mr Caines, resulting in two Police officers going to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man has been taken into custody.
