Lukoil wins Nelson takeover bid

MOSCOW (Bloomberg) ? Nelson Resources Ltd., which pumps oil in Kazakhstan, said its owners approved a $2 billion takeover bid from OAO Lukoil that would be the largest-ever foreign acquisition by a Russian company.
?The amalgamation was approved by 97.07 percent of the votes cast by shareholders,? Bermuda-based Nelson said on Friday. Nelson will file ?articles of merger? in the British Virgin Islands that would complete the sale today, the statement said.
Nelson shareholders will be entitled to a cash payment of $2.19 a share, the statement said. Moscow-based Lukoil is Russia?s biggest oil producer.
