Motorcyclist hurt in collision
A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a collision in Sandys on Monday.
The collision between a car and the motorcycle occurred at the junction of Somerset Road and Hook and Ladder Lane around 1.30 p.m., Police said.
A spokesman said: "It appears that the motorcycle was travelling west on Somerset Road and the car was travelling along Hook & Ladder Lane when the vehicles collided at the junction.
"The rider of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old Southampton man, sustained a serious injury to his right forearm and right knee. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 74-year-old Sandys parish woman, was not injured."
The man has since been released from the hospital.
Impaired driver fined
A Paget man admitted to drunk driving after Police saw him swerving all over the road.
Daniel O'Mahony of Middle Road, pleaded guilty to impaired driving yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
Crown counsel Maria Sofianos told the court that the 30-year-old was seen riding a cycle up Trimingham Hill at 1.35 a.m. on February 9.
He crossed over the centre line and began swerving and almost hit the sidewalk, she said.
When he was pulled over by Police, O'Mahony's speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol. He was arrested under suspicion of impaired driving.
O'Mahony said: "I'd like to apologise to the court. It was completely out of character."
He was fined $1,000, given a one-year driving ban and nine demerit points.
BlackBerry stolen
A burglar stole a BlackBerry cell phone, cash and jewellery from a Pembroke home on Monday.
Police attended the incident on Pitts Bay Road at 6.55 p.m. on Monday, with the victim reporting that the break-in took place sometime between 8.40 a.m. and 6.20 p.m. that day.
