PartnerRe donates to schools arts programme
PartnerRe has donated $10,000 to a programme aimed at introducing students to art.
Art Smart was created by the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art as a teacher's guide to discovering the gallery's collection of work.
According to Masterworks, it serves as a resource for teachers, allowing them to facilitate further enrichment in the visual arts and social studies including local history.
"So far, the guide has been piloted with very positive feedback at several primary schools in the last two years Harrington Sound, St. David's Primary, Purvis Primary and Warwick Preschool as well as on-site at the museum with numerous visiting school groups," said Masterwork's education coordinator Carrie Zenti.
"The goal of Masterworks is to ultimately provide this guide to the approximately 33 schools on the Island, however a lack of funding to date has held up production and distribution.
"This most recent grant from PartnerRe is a generous portion of the projected expenses and has allowed Masterworks to put in place the production of this resource packet."
An additional $15,000 is needed to move the programme forward, she added.
Said PartnerRe corporate communications associate Jaime Master: "The Art Smart programme captures some of the themes that we at PartnerRe strongly support, namely art and education."
