Young fiddlers get chance to meet Canadian virtuoso

Canadian violinist, James Ehnes, when he appears in the first of two Bermuda Festival appearances at City Hall tonight.

BF&M is sponsoring the Island's stringed instruments students to enable them to attend tonight's concert. Afterwards, students and teachers have been invited to attend a special reception to meet the young musician.

Mr. Ehnes first gained national recognition in Canada when he won the Grand Prize in Strings at the Canadian Music Competition at the age of ten. In 1990 he began studies at the Juilliard School of Music and has been receiving rave reviews for performances with major symphony orchestras across Canada.

On Friday, February 18, BF&M is also sponsoring a special workshop for students and teachers to meet James Ehnes. In an informal gathering at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the children will be hearing this talented young violinist talking about his career to date, and some of his experiences in the highly competitive world of performing musicians.
