Pembroke man charged with intending to cause grievous bodily harm

A man has been charged with an alleged serious assault at Focus Counselling Services more than three years ago.Michael Wade, 51, of Curving Avenue, Pembroke, is alleged to have assaulted Dunavin Nesbitt on September 26, 2008 with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner inquired yesterday why Mr Wade did not appear in court on November 30 when he was supposed to.Mr Wade replied that he had to attend the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute and nobody contacted him afterwards.When the magistrate asked prosecutor Larissa Burgess why the offence dates back to 2008 yet the case is just coming before the court, she replied that it has been difficult to find some of the witnesses.She confirmed that the Department of Public Prosecutions is now proceeding with the matter, which will go to the Supreme Court.Mr Wade was not required to enter a plea, and Mr Warner granted him $2,000 bail.He must come back to court on January 3.
