But Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller told the jury to return a not guilty verdict on an unlawful wounding charge the man was facing.

His co-accused and close friend, Marcus Bean, pleaded guilty to that charge last week.

Cox's lawyer Larry Mussenden convinced Mrs. Justice Wade-Miller to order a social inquiry report on his 21-year-old client before she sentences the two men on January 2.

Cox, of Gables Lane, Devonshire, was convicted of stealing a ring from Aaron Hooper, who he referred to as "that white boy'' during a Police interview, during a reggae concert in St. David's on July 31.

The court heard that Cox and the complainant were at St. David's cricket field when they got into a row over the ring. Mr. Hooper was chased through the crowd, robbed of the ring and stabbed.

He was treated in hospital but did not report the incident until nine days later.

Bean, 20, of Curving Avenue, Pembroke, was involved in the fracas and admitted stabbing Hooper. Both men were remanded in custody until next year.
