Jahmal Glen Blakeney, 19, of Stovell Bay Road, initially pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Idrian Izion Paynter on December 17 at the Queen Street Restaurant.

But under the advice of lawyer Kevin Bean, Blakeney changed his plea to not guilty.

Acting Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told Blakeney that the charge was serious and set bail at $2,000.

Blakeney is due to return to court for trial next May.
