Robinson, represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, failed to complete a psychiatric report ordered by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner as he did not want to miss work at his new job.

Mr. Warner said he would give him one more chance to get the report done and extended his $2,000 bail.

Before being bailed in April, Robinson spent five months on remand at the Westgate Correctional Facility awaiting a Supreme Court trial that he had elected, but his case was remitted down to Magistrates' Court.

MAN TRIED TO AVOID TICKET CTS Man tried to avoid ticket A Pembroke man who sped down a one-way street to avoid a traffic ticket from Police for failing to stop at a stop sign was banned from driving for a year and fined a total of $900 yesterday.

Jahdel Edwards, 19, of Orchard Grove, failed to stop at a stop sign in Canal Road on April 4 and nearly collided with Police before speeding off along Woodland Road.

He went through the Bulls Head car park and re-entered Canal Road before heading the wrong way down Laffan Street, a one-way street, which caused traffic to swerve to the side to avoid a collision.

He eventually gave up in Marsh Folly Road and told Police: "I didn't want a ticket for the stop sign.'' Edwards pleaded guilty to dangerous driving before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner yesterday and was fined $600 and banned from all vehicles for a year.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop at a stop sign which landed him a $300 fine.

TEEN HAD OFFENSIVE WEAPON CTS Teen had offensive weapon A St. George's youth was given a 12-month conditional discharge after he admitted carrying an offensive weapon.

Damon Darrell, 18, of Boundary Lane, was stopped by Police for speeding on May 13 in Pembroke Parish.

After being signalled to stop, the officers saw Darrell get off his bike and throw something into the bushes.

When asked by Police what he had thrown, he told them it was a knife that he carried for his own protection.

Police recovered a seven-inch knife from the bushes and arrested and charged Darrell.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner warned Darrell about his "attitude'' and explained the repercussions of having a criminal conviction before telling him: "There is a lot of merit in running away.'' He then gave him a 12-month conditional discharge and told him "do not go around carrying knives''.

VISITOR POSSESSED CANNABIS CTS Visitor possessed cannabis A visitor was fined $500 this week after she pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

San Francisco resident Gretchen Caryn Throop, 34, who is staying at the Southampton Princess while on the Island, was stopped by Customs officials at the Bermuda International Airport on May 10 and 1.82 grams of cannabis was found in the sole of her shoe.

Throop, who is self employed as a graphic designer, apologised to Magistrates' Court and said the drug was for her personal use.

MAN ADMITS DRINK DRIVING CTS Man admits drink driving A Hamilton Parish man was fined $500 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 12 months this week after he pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol.

David Andre Madeiros, 26, of Glebe Hill Road, was stopped by Police at 12.40 a.m. on June 9 after Police spotted him driving along Front Street in an unsteady manner.

Madeiros was signalled to stop by Police, who noted that he was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and said he had drunk "three or four'' when he was asked if he had been drinking.

FINED AND DISQUALIFIED CTS Fined and disqualified A Warwick man was fined $2,300 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for two years after he pleaded guilty this week to driving while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol.

Mark Ryan, 29, of Fiddlewood Drive, was seen travelling at an excessive speed along Front Street by Police officers who chased him.

He was eventually stopped outside Bermuda Healthcare Services in Paget where Police said he fell over while trying to put his bike on its stand.

When asked if he had been drinking, Ryan replied "no''. He then gave Police a false name.

Magistrates' Court heard that Ryan was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he said: "They will surely deport me for this.'' He added that he had only been on the Island for three months, but had already been convicted for driving while under the influence of alcohol and was currently disqualified from driving.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Ryan $1,000 for driving while disqualified, $500 for giving false information and $800, plus a two year disqualification from driving all vehicles, for driving while impaired.
