The news came yesterday from CedarBridge Academy Show Choir director John Woolridge, after his troupe returned from a major US music festival where they swept four trophies.

The show choir was competing for the second year running in the Music in the Parks Festival, sponsored by the Educational Programs Network in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The festival featured some 800 participants, competing in different disciplines including concert band, marching band, mixed choir and show choir.

The local choir came first in the Show Choir category and received a national rating of excellent in their first year of competition.

This year they improved their national rating to Superior and won their category again.

The choir also received the adjudicators outstanding show choir award and two individual students, Eldridge Burrows and Latosha Codrington, each received outstanding vocalist awards.
