Man arrested after missing court date

A 54-year-old man who missed his court appearance to face a charge of uttering a series of threats to a woman has been jailed, to appear this morning in Magistrates’ Court.

Chesterfield Robinson, of Watlington Lane, Devonshire, told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that he had been arrested at 1am yesterday after police found him drinking, but the magistrate told him that he was arrested for failing to show up in court.

On March 29 in Devonshire, Mr Robinson allegedly told Sharon Ales that he intended to kill her, along with “You wait and see. I’m not going to forget. I will get you.”

Mr Tokunbo ordered Mr Robinson to spend the night in jail and return to the court this morning.
