Teenager Rodney Trott snatched five first innings wickets for 23 off 13.1 overs with five maidens to inspire Bailey?s Bay to this six-wicket triumph over Cleveland at Sea Breeze Oval.
Cleveland?s batting was miserable throughout the two-day game although they showed more imagination in their second innings.
Batting first, Bay had five batsmen scoring more than 20, opener Cal Dill Jr. leading the way with 42. Corey Hill followed with 31 while Rodney Trott and Irving Romain each hit 30 and skipper Jermaine Outerbridge 22.
Shaki Darrell led Cleveland bowlers with four wickets for 35 runs off 10 overs.
Cleveland were dismissed in quick time off just 41.1 overs with Anthony Bascome and Jeffrey Tyrrell each scoring 13 to top score. Opener Jason Simons was the only other player in double figures with 11.
Taking wickets in addition to Trott was Dennis Pilgrim with two for nine off 11 overs with seven maidens while Hill had two for 27 off 12 overs with one maiden.
Forced to follow on, Cleveland reached a more formidable 158 with Simons scoring 49, Courtney Trott 37 and Tyrrell 27.
Romaine took four for 37 off 13 overs with two maidens while Hill had two for 24 off 12 overs with five maidens.
Needing 32 runs to win, Bay sent in their youngsters to finish the job and while losing three wickets they coasted home, although Dennis Musson slowed the chase by taking all four wickets for 18 runs.
