Traffic advice issued for International Race Weekend

Police have issued advice to motorists on parking, road closures and diversions during the Bermuda Marathon Weekend events.Today’s 10K race starts at 9am and all vehicles will be prevented from entering the race route between the start on Parsons Road and the junction of Verdmont Road and Middle Road.There will be no parking in the following locations from 8am to 11am: Parsons Road, from Roberts Avenue to Montpelier Road; Frog Lane, from Palmetto Road to Parsons Road; Montpelier Road, from Parsons Road to Middle Road; Gymnasium Road, from Frog Lane to Fort Hill Road; Flatts Village, from St James Court to Middle Road; Fort Hill Road, from Alexandra Road to Gymnasium Road.The following roads will be subject to closure from 8.45am: Parsons Road, from Roberts Avenue to Montpelier Road; Montpelier Road, from Parsons Road to Middle Road; Frog Lane, from Palmetto Road to Parsons Road; Old Military Road, from Parsons Road to Frog Lane (except for access to Cedar Park Estate); Middle Road, from Corkscrew Hill to Verdmont Road; North Shore Road (westbound), from Flatts/ Middle Road to Barkers Hill Roundabout; Gymnasium Road, from Frog Lane to Headquarters Hill.Traffic travelling through Flatts heading west will be diverted onto Middle Road.Tomorrow’s Bermuda Marathon and Half-Marathon will start at 8am.No parking will be allowed from 4am to 4pm on Front Street, from Woodbourne Avenue to Court Street; Bermudiana Road, between Front Street and Church Street; Rosebank Road, between Bermudiana Road and Par-la-Ville Road; Par-la -Ville Road, between Church Street and Front Street; Flatts Village, from St James Court to Middle Road.From 5am, Front Street, from Queen Street to Court Street, will be closed, as will Burnaby Street, from Reid Street to Front Street.From 7am to 4pm, the following roads will remain closed:l Front Street, from Woodbourne Avenue to King Street;l Bermudiana Road, from Front Street to Church Street;l Gorham Road, between Bermudiana Road and Woodbourne Avenue;l Par-la-Ville Road, from Front Street to Church Street;l Rosebank Road, between Par La Ville and Bermudiana Road;l Burnaby Street, from Front Street to Reid Street;l Court Street, from Front Street to Reid Street;l King Street, between Reid Street and Front Street;l Spurling Hill, in an easterly direction to Crow Lane.The following diversions will start at 7.30am: traffic travelling into the city on Pitts Bay Road will be diverted onto Woodbourne Avenue; traffic travelling into the city along Crow Lane/ East Broadway will be diverted up Spurling Hill; traffic travelling out of the City from King Street will not be permitted to travel down Spurling Hill.For the initial stage of the race, traffic travelling east on South Road will be required to divert onto Harbour Road/The Lane to reach North Roundabout. Traffic will then be permitted to divert up Point Finger Road/ Berry Hill Road.At the junction of Devil’s Hole and Harrington Sound Road, traffic will be diverted to travel onto South Road. No vehicles will permitted to continue along Harrington Sound Road in the same direction as the runners.Traffic travelling through Flatts heading west onto North Shore Road will not be permitted to continue along North Shore Road but will be diverted onto Middle Road. Traffic travelling east down Middle Road towards Flatts will be permitted to continue east on North Shore Road or turn right along Harrington Sound Road in the opposite direction to the runners.No traffic will be allowed to travel in the same direction as the runners during either race.
