A 22-year-old father has died after he was involved in road crash marking it the seventh road fatality for 2009.

A Police report stated: "Around 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on Middle Road in Paget near Eve's Cycles involving a car and a motorcycle.

"Details about how the collision occurred are unclear, however, the male motorcyclist was seriously injured and rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. "Inquiries are underway. No further information will be released until the deceased's next of kin have been notified."

Last year the Island suffered 17 road deaths with the total being 108 road deaths over the past ten years.
