The only problem was the person whose name he gave had not one but three warrants out.

St. George's man Ford was stopped by Police in Paget on September 4 and gave the name Carlos Loren Lee -- who had three outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Ford pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on Friday to giving wrong information to avoid prosecution.

Magistrate Will Francis said: "So you really jumped from the frying pan into the fire.'' Ford said: "I apologise to the court. It was an act of desperation.'' The 26-year-old labourer from St. David's Road was fined $400.

He also pleading guilty to speeding at 67 mph for which he was fined $280 and driving while banned for which he was given a further six month ban from cars.
