Sims on cut line

Michael Sims was hovering on the cut line last night, hoping he had done enough to play the final two rounds in the Nationwide Tour's Knoxville Open.

Sims fired his second successive round of two-under-par 70 at the rain-delayed tournament being played on the 7,110-yard, par-72 Fox Den Country Club.

The Bermudian touring pro was at four-under-par 140 with the cut set at four-under with several players still hoping to complete their second round before darkness.

His round yesterday included four birdies and just two bogeys and in the first round on Thursday his card also included four birdies and two dropped shots.

David McKenzie led the field at 14-under after two superb rounds of 65. He was followed by Gary Christian at 12-under.

The $525,000 event is offering $94,500 for the winner..

Last week, Sims made his fifth cut of the season at the Melwood Prince George's County Open in Maryland which was also affected by the weather.
