Ministers to plan conference

Four of Africa?s Tourism Ministers will be coming to Bermuda in September to discuss plans for a full-scale African Diaspora Heritage Trail conference in 2006.

Bermuda Tourism Minister Ewart Brown?s sojourn in Zambia was just one stop in a whirlwind tour which also included stops in Jamaica, Miami and Atlanta.

Dr. Brown said the conference of African Tourism Ministers which he attended earlier this month in Lusaka was considered ?very high profile?.

Attendees included the presidents of Nigeria and Zambia, as well as the president of the African Travel Association.

Dr. Brown spoke directly with the Tourism Ministers of Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Angola at the event, all of whom agreed to come to Bermuda in September to help plan a full-scale African Diaspora Heritage Trail conference in 2006.

He is still working on bringing at least two more African Ministers to Bermuda in September.

The planning conference will involve 50 or less attendees, while the 2006 African Diaspora Heritage Trail conference will be full-blown ?David Allen style?, he said.
