Seniors can sign up for free Cable

Seniors have the chance to get free cable installation at the Age Concern Seniors? Exposition tomorrow at CedarBridge Academy.

There is also a luncheon, a variety show and Internet classes planned for the expo, which brings together a number of local businesses offering products or services of particularly interest to the elderly.

Bermuda CableVision will be at booth 14 at the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and to take advantage of the offer seniors have to sign up for cable service at this booth.

Fire damages display

A fire contained to the window of a Front Street store is estimated to have caused $10,000 in damage.

The Bermuda Fire Service attended A.S. Coopers on Front Street at 3.44 p.m. Damage included the display window, booth, ceiling, lights and all of the display contents and caused approximately $10,000. Smoke travelled up to the three upper floors but was removed by mechanical ventilation.

Worker injured

A Jamaican is currently at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after falling 25 feet into a well yesterday morning.

Police attended the Berkeley School construction site at 10.30 a.m. after it appeared that a worker stepped on to wooden planks on the third floor scaffolding that was unsupported.

The man fell 25 feet into a well but was able to use a ladder to climb out before he collapsed.

He was taken to KEMH for treatment.

Three injured in crash

A single vehicle was involved a road traffic collision early yesterday morning on Kindley Field Road in St. George?s.

The blue Opal Astra was travelling east when the driver lost control of the car and struck the fencing outside the Bermuda International Airport.

The car received extensive damage and the driver and two passengers were treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and released.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information should call St. George?s Police Station at 297-1122.
