Fire spokesman Lt. Jon Thompson said the incident was initially reported as a brush fire around 3.45 p.m.

A total of 11 firefighters from Hamilton and four from the Port Royal Fire Station rushed to the scene to find a shed on fire.

Four small propane cylinders were also found nearby. They were leaking.

Lt. Thompson said the fire destroyed a 20-foot-by-20-foot area and left a dog, found at the scene, with burns.

The Government dog warden and the SPCA were called to the area.

The dog was believed to be in the care of the Government shelter.

Meanwhile fire officials were still trying to determine the damage estimate.

Earlier in the day, firefighters responded to a flooding report at a residence on North Hill in Pembroke.

They arrived to find water bed had punctured and flooded a five-foot-by-10-foot area of carpet in the residence.

Water vacuums were used to pick up the water on the surface. Damage was estimated to be $50.

An estimate of $450 worth of damage was caused to a warehouse near Mills Creek in Pembroke, believed to be used by the Bank of Butterfield. Lt. Thompson said nine firefighters in two trucks responded to the call which came in at 7.49 p.m. on Tuesday. At the warehouse, owned by Perfume Distributors, they found a wood rudder, a trash bin, miscellaneous pieces of wood, and other debris on fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
