Southampton man accused of importing large amount of drugs

A man accused of importing 12 kilograms of cannabis and two and a half kilograms of cocaine in a steel drum was remanded in custody yesterday by the Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis.

Warren Vincent, 30, of Middle Road Southampton was not required to enter a plea to four counts of importing and possessing cocaine and cannabis for supply.

Crown counsel Mr. Melvin Douglas said the 12.1 kilograms of cannabis and 2.487 kilograms of cocaine arrived in Bermuda on March 19 inside a 55 gallon steel drum on board a visiting cargo vessel.

Lawyer Ms Victoria Pearman requested bail adding that Police had already held Vincent too long after he was arrested on March 23.

But Mr. Francis denied bail and remanded Vincent in custody for a week.
