Taur still skating's No. 1
As expected, yesterday's Bermuda Day In-Line Skating Race boiled down to a clash between two of the local sport's 'titans'.
Bermuda In-Line Skating Association president, Taur Caisey, remained the Island's top dog as he successfully retained his Bermuda Day title, leaving perennial rival Vincent Seaman toiling in his wake.
Caisey crossed the finish in 40 minutes and 40 seconds - a minute and a half off his pace of last year.
But that didn't bother the champion in the least.
"It wasn't easy. It was a push," gasped Caisey after crossing the line.
"Basically my strategy was to go from the start and never look back - though I did look back quite a lot because I never know what Vince (Seaman) is going to do.
"On race day things can change very rapidly. But I was able to break away from the outset and hold onto my lead."
In all, eight competitors took part in yesterday's race while only one participant dropped out.
