Hamilton East MP Derrick Burgess thanked those who assisted during this week's industrial strike by taxi drivers, and emphasised that every problem has a solution.

Mr. Burgess expressed concern about the Bermuda College, and cited one example of a qualified young Bermudian who now teaches at an institution abroad after the College rejected the application.

He encouraged qualified young Bermudians not being hired by local institutions to inform Government so they can assist.

Shadow Tourism Minister David Dodwell spoke about the lack of personal courtesy and casual disregard for the law that seems to be an increasing problem on Island.

Shadow Youth and Sport Minister Jon Brunson said not enough is being done to advise visitors and residents that Church Bay is closed following damage caused by Hurricane Fabian.

But Environment Minister Neletha Butterfield said she spoke to the Parks Department and a sign is indeed present warning people that the beach is closed.

And she added that although Government can warn about the dangers of entering the closed area, they cannot police people who read the sign and ignore it.

In closing, Premier Alex Scott gave a brief review and update about Government's efforts to reach an agreement with taxi drivers regarding GPS legislation.

He insisted that the only way to ensure prompt, efficient taxi service in the future is for Government to remain firm despite recent industrial protests.
