Taxi driver punched and robbed
A 70-year-old taxi driver was attacked and robbed of $200 cash yesterday morning.
Police were called to the incident on Union Street, Pembroke, at around 7.05 a.m. The victim told officers that he had been sitting in his taxi with his door slightly open when an unknown man approached the vehicle.
The suspect opened the driver?s door and punched the taxi driver in the face, before demanding money.
He took the $200 before running north on Union Street, getting on a red scooter type cycle and escaping.
The victim, who is from Pembroke, suffered a bloody nose and bruising to his upper lip and left eye.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a black jacket. Anyone with information should ring the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
