With long-time American friend Mike Marcel as crew, Bromby holds a five point lead in a fleet of 70 after recording finishes of second, third and sixth in the three races to date.
His lead could have been even larger had he not lost speed towards the the finish of yesterday's race when two boats managed to pass.
Second place is currently held by Americans John MacCausland and crew Phil Trinter who have finishes of first, second and 13th.
Bromby's best overall finish in the regatta was 10th two years ago when Bermudian Lee White was on board.
The fourth race takes place today with the fifth scheduled for tomorrow and the sixth on Friday.
FORGESSON FIRST OM 5K RACE RIM UN Forgesson first in 5K race Brett Forgesson trotted home in 17 minutes and 24 seconds to win the Timeless 5K road race on Sunday evening.
The Island veteran pipped second-placed Van Doyling by eight seconds, with Ramon Blanchette third in 17:46. Forty-nine runners took part.
Top woman was Myra Brayham, who was 14th overall in 20:52.
Mid Ocean News running columnist Joe Pagnam, who clocked 22:05, won the prize for correctly predicting his finishing time after all runners were required to compete without wearing watches.
