Annual sandcastle competition set for weekend
You could build your own Island castle this weekend for free - but you will have to be prepared for your pride and joy to disappear with the afternoon tide.
Horseshoe Bay hosts the annual sandcastle competition on Saturday, giving everyone, from children to tourists, the chance of making their mark on a ten foot square plot of sand.
There are classes for teenagers, children under 12, companies and adults, and visitors. Entry costs $25 on the day but is free for tourists.
Organiser Nicky Gurret said: "It is a wonderful event and it is great fun."
Free refreshments will be provided by the Marketplace and there will also be prizes for the winners.
The event starts at 12 p.m. and finished with the judging at 4 p.m.. All are welcome.
Entry forms can be obtained from the Planning Department, 3rd floor, Government Administration building. For more information call 297 7658.
