FedEx chief to talk about quality
service award in the United States -- will speak in Bermuda on Tuesday.
Mr. Craig Conners, managing director for Federal Express's Puerto Rico and Caribbean operations, will speak to the Bermuda Quality Awareness Team on "Competing through quality service''.
Mr. Conners, who is speaking at 5.30 p.m. at the Hamilton Princess, will explain why Federal Express achieved a sufficient standard of excellence to win the Malcolm Baldridge Award, the highest quality and service award a US company can receive. The award is presented annually by the president of the United States.
He will also outline how local companies could adopt similar operating techniques.
"We want people to hear how Federal Express won the Malcolm Baldridge award.
Our focus is to encourage awareness,'' said Ms Lucinda Callaghan, quality awareness team chairman and controller at Sonesta Beach Hotel and Spa.
Mr. Conners will also meet with Bermuda International Business Association executives on Wednesday.
The awareness team's ten member management council is presenting the event.
New management council members for 1995 are; Mr. Craig Christensen, Mr. Vaughn Mosher, Ms Carol Bassett, Ms Jacalyn Weech and Ms Monica Massey while returning members include; Ms Callaghan, Mr. Thomas Brown, Mr. Nigel Godfrey, Ms Joyce Hayden and Mr. Larry Osborne.
The group, with over 250 members, was formed about four years ago by Ms Patti Daly, one of the organisations ten charter members.
Its mission is to encourage and support the use of quality improvement in Bermuda's work force and increase the Island's competitiveness in the global marketplace.
