More motorcycle officers needed
May 17, 2014
Dear Sir,
Like I have written in previous letters to the Editor of The Royal Gazette, the only way to “ease down” this road rage of vehicles in Bermuda’s roads, would to have more motorcycle officers on patrol 24/7 and have more radar operating as well. As it is right now, these drivers who prefer speed over caution while driving take these chances as they know the police only come out now and again to curb these infractions of speed or dangerous driving. And when these individuals who chose to race around at breakneck speeds do get caught for these road rage infractions, they go to court, pay their fines, and if taken off the road they go back on the road by using stolen livery cycles or they rent livery cycles with the white plates (which are used for tourists) so not to be detected by the police at their checkpoints.
Every time there is a serious accident or death by driving it must be costing thousands of taxpayers’ dollars to deal with these so-called accidents, not to mention the inconvenience to the local populace who use our roadways. So come on “Boys in Blue”, let’s have more radar operations and more motorcycle officers patrolling our streets 24/7.
