Island's Centre on Philanthropy recently as positive examples of ``Volunteers
"They are an active example of the partnership between the workplace and our community joining forces to address serious social issues,'' COP staffer Ms Jacqueline Horsfield wrote in the Centre's most recent newsletter. "Go for the gold J&H!'' In the same issue, the Centre also commended the Cable and Wireless Company for its continued support of the Jason Project, John Barritt and Son for donating a percentage of every Coca-Cola product purchased in May towards Bermudian participation in the recently held Special Olympics and Meyer Agencies for raising money for various charities through its company travel fair. The Centre on Philanthropy is dedicated to promoting a spirit a volunteerism and maintains a directory of registered charities.

For $10 a person, participants will be able to listen to Dr. Antonio Monteiro dos Santos, a clinical psychologist and author, speak on a subject that has generated a great deal of discussion in these spritually starved times, including a recent cover story in Time magazine. Dr. dos Santos, who has lectured on at least three continents, is the author of the book "Magical Moments'' and one of the editors of the Portuguese version of "A Course in Miracles''. A co-author with Drs. Carl Rogers and Maria Constanca of "When the Heart Speaks'', he also has forthcoming books on spirituality, psychology. On August 8, Dr. dos Santos will speak between 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Cathedral Hall in Hamilton. Interested persons should call 295-0999.
