The annual Merrill Lynch Shoot-Out -- featuring some of the world's best golfers -- gets underway today with a pro-am golf tournament.

And Police are warning motorists travelling along Paynter's Road and South Road in Hamilton Parish that there may be traffic delays today and tomorrow as a result.

A Police spokesman said the Mid-Ocean Club is holding the pro-am today and tomorrow the club will host the Shoot-Out.

"The latter event will be staged between 11 a.m. and approximately 4.30 p.m.,'' the spokesman said. "Motorists travelling along those roads may experience traffic delays and should, if possible, consider alternative routes.

"Parking areas will be set up near the course and the event will be policed.''
