Breaking News: Maybury convicted of Reid Street shooting
Facebook fugitive Alvone Maybury has been convicted this afternoon of a shooting on a city centre street.
Maybury’s trial heard how he is an alleged associate of the 42 gang and met with members of Parkside at Captain’s Lounge late last December 18.
The two rival groups got into an altercation and Maybury subsequently pulled out a gun and shot at his rivals outside on Reid Street.
During the course of the trial the jury saw videos that Maybury had filmed on his own cell phone showing him brandishing the weapon in question.
Following this afternoon’s unanimous verdict that he possessed and fired the gun, Maybury was remanded into custody.
Security was tight in the courtroom as Maybury, 24, had famously escaped from prison guards in July after first being charged with the crime.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
