The news comes after months of quarrelling over whether high powered antennae can cause cancer.

In a circular the Health and Telecommunications Departments announced the inspections by a joint team led by an overseas expert.

The circular has been sent to telecommunications providers, broadcasters, Government departments, and even the US Consulate.

It is understood the unidentified team leader will bring in specialised equipment that is not available locally to test the antennae.

This is believed to be the first time an Island-wide survey of antennae has been attempted.

Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb has promised the findings will be made public.

Communities Against Radiations Emissions (CARE) is lobbying against the Island's 38th cell-phone mast at Faraway in Warwick.
