Arrest made in St. George's alleged machete attack

A 23-year-old St. George's man was arrested yesterday in connection with a machete attack on national squad cricketer George O'Brien Jr.

Police said the suspect is in custody at Southside Police Station and helping Police with their inquiries.

Mr. O'Brien, 25, is considered a crucial member of the St. George's cricket team. There are still some concerns over whether he will be able to play for his St. George's team next week.

Last night he was in stable condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The incident happened near Mount Road in St. David's on Monday at 8.30 p.m. after the pace bowler had an altercation with a man.
