Ricardo Alexander Denbrook, 22, Andrew Leroy Hayward, 20, and Howard Austin Sinclair Mello, 21, face a Supreme Court trial for charges of robbing and assaulting taxi driver Warren (Soup) Zuill.

But a preliminary inquiry must be heard in the lower court first. Mello and Hayward have just secured the services of lawyer Mark Pettingill, while Denbrook is represented by lawyer Venous Telford.

The trio were remanded in custody for another week, prompting an outburst of frustration from one of the accused.

"Let's just get this over with,'' Mello said. "I'm guilty, so you might as well get it done.'' Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner replied: "This court has no power to deal with this matter. This is Magistrates' Court. This is where the preliminary procedures happen.'' Mr. Zuill, 68, was beaten and robbed after he picked up three men at the Tio Pepe Restaurant on South Shore on July 9.

He was asked to drive them to Burnt House Hill and was found bleeding by the roadside after the attack. He suffered cuts and bruises to his face and his attackers drove away in his taxi.

MICHAEL IS KING OT THE TOWN CRIERS CPN Michael is king of the Town Criers St. George's Town Crier E. Michael Jones last weekend won the European Championships.

He beat 44 other town criers from all over Europe. He was recently named the official crier of Whitchurch Canonicorum, Devon, England where the man who claimed Bermuda for the Crown, Sir George Somers, had a home and property.

Next week, Mr. Jones will take part in the Commonwealth Championships in Dartmouth. He is accompanied by Hamilton Town Crier Ed Christopher.

FIREFIGHTERS FIGHT FLOODING FIR Firefighters fight flooding Fire fighters responded to a flooding at a private residence on Keith's Hill Road in Warwick at 8.30 p.m. yesterday.

Flooding occurred in the living room, hallway and bedroom following heavy rains, but no damage was suffered after a Bermuda Fire Service vehicle and six personnel attended.

The couple were sleeping when the female woke and found a man standing in the doorway in their room.

Her screams frightened the intruder who quickly escaped with cash and other personal items.

The male occupant of the room chased the suspect.

The woman gave Police a description of the intruder and officers are investigating.

GOVT. DEPARTMENT BROKEN INTO CRM Govt. department broken into Police are investigating an alleged breaking and entering at the Government Parks Department on Sunday.

The burglar alarm sounded shortly before 6 a.m. at the Point Finger Road office and officers arrived to find items has been scattered, but nothing appeared to be taken.
