The merger of TeleBermuda International and Global Crossing Ltd., will mean that the local firm will be able to efficiently connect and provide service between Europe, the United States eastern seaboard, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
Connections to Central and South America will also be possible through interconnections with other cables.
TBI chairman Michael Kedar said: "TBI views this impressive project as a logical expansion of the network we started with our BUS-1 cable which commenced service last month between Bermuda and the Northeast seaboard.'' WOMAN ASSAULTED CRM Woman assaulted Somerset Police detectives are investigating a violent assault on an elderly woman.
Neighbours heard the 69-year-old victim, of Victoria Row, Cochrane Road in Sandys Parish screaming shortly after midnight.
The Police were called and the neighbours rushed to the house where they found the woman lying in her bed, bleeding profusely from head and arm injuries.
She was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she was detained overnight and released.
The motive for the attack is unknown and it is not clear whether any property was stolen from the victim's home.
Inquiries are continuing and anyone who may have information on the attack has been asked to contact Somerset CID on 234-1010.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY CRM Attempted robbery A restaurant worker became the victim of an attempted robbery and assault at the Royal Naval Dockyard on Monday night.
Police said the 46-year-old Warwick man was taking out the trash at the undisclosed restaurant around 11 p.m. when he was allegedly attacked by two men.
He was thrown to the ground and repeatedly kicked about the body. The offenders then ran toward the Victualling Yard empty handed.
The victim suffered bruises and lacerations to his face and head. He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he received stitches to close the wounds.
WARWICK MAN ARRESTED CRM Warwick man arrested Police yesterday arrested a 41-year-old Warwick man in connection with a stabbing incident.
Around 1.45 a.m. officers attended a residence on South Road, Warwick, where they found a 30-year-old man tending wounds to his face and head.
He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released.
Police said they believed the injuries were inflicted with a knife during an altercation between the two men.
