Detectives arrested a 19-year-old man on Wednesday and a 20-year-old yesterday in connection with the beating and robbery of cabbie Warrington (Soup) Zuill.

The search continues for a third man believed to have been involved in the attack, which happened at about 10.40 p.m. last Friday at the junction of Harbour Road and Burnt House Hill.

Last night a Police spokesman would not say which parishes the arrested men were from, but said he expected them to appear in Magistrates' Court to be charged with offences relating to the attack early next week.

Mr. Zuill, who has been a taxi driver for more than 30 years, was left battered and bruised after being set upon by three men he had collected from the Tio Pepe restaurant in Southampton.

After being pulled from the car and beaten, the assailants made off with his takings and vehicle.

The attack is just the latest of a number of incidents in which cabbies have been targetted by violent passengers.

As a result of the assault some taxi drivers on the Island are said to be afraid to work at night and Government is now considering introducing new safety regulations to safeguard both drivers and passengers.

Cab drivers on the Island are to be polled by the Bermuda Industrial Union to find out what new measures they believe should be put in place.

Their suggestions will then go back to the Transport Minister Dr. Ewart Brown for discussion and approval from Government.
