Police continued to question a man in connection with the attack.

A 29-year-old Pembroke man was taken to the King Edward VII Hospital on Wednesday morning suffering serious head and upper body injuries after being struck several times with a machete.

He underwent emergency surgery for wounds to his head and upper body and last night was said to be stable in the intensive care unit.

A 46-year-old Pembroke man arrested at the scene on Court Street was last night still in custody being questioned by detectives.
