The driver reported to Police that he picked up two men at about 7.15 p.m. on Church Street near the Bus Terminal, driving them to Riviera Estate Road in Southamption. They then requested that he take them to Ingham Vale in Pembroke.

When the driver stopped near Tablerock Avenue one of the males got out of the back seat and demanded that the victim hand over money. He then allegedly pulled the driver out of the door while the other passenger pushed him out from behind.

After getting him on the ground and punching him in the mouth, the first man again demanded money, eventually retieving it after both culprits searched through his pockets.

They fled the scene after the victim's cries for help alerted other people in the area. During the incident, the taxi rolled downhill approximately 50 yards and collided with a wall, sustaining damage to the front end.

The driver received a cut to his lip as a result of the attack and received treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital before being released.
