Security videos from the Paget Ice Queen have been handed over to Police in an effort to aid the investigation into the lethal weekend stabbing in the restaurant's parking lot.

As the Police investigation into the death of 22-year-old Tekle Mallory continues, it is unclear when the three men currently in custody will be formally charged and The Royal Gazette understands that the murder weapon has yet to be found.

Mr. Mallory was murdered during a fight outside Ice Queen during at roughly 4.30 a.m. on Saturday. When Police arrived on the scene, there were roughly one hundred people gathered outside the popular late night eatery.

Police are urging potential witnesses to the stabbing to come forward with their accounts of the events that lead up to Mr. Mallory's death.

Police believe witnesses may have observed events crucial to the investigation without realising their importance.

"At this time, investigating officers are aware that there were a large number of people in the immediate vicinity of the attack," said a Police statement released yesterday.

"It may be that some persons who were in the area witnessed events that they initially did not consider to be central. This information may in fact prove to be quite useful in the investigation."

And Ice Queen management and staff added their voices to the cries for witnesses to speak out.

"We have made our staff available to the Police and turned over to the Police the camera tapes to assist in the investigation of this murder," said a statement released by the chain yesterday. "We encourage anyone who witnessed these events on Saturday morning, who have not yet come forward, to come forward promptly and assist in the investigation."

In addition to those who were in the vicinity of the Ice Queen at the time of Mr. Mallory's death, Police would like to speak to those who were in the Showtime Club in Dockyard between midnight and 3 a.m. Saturday.

The fight at Ice Queen which lead to Mr. Mallory's death was allegedly the continuation of another altercation which took place at Showtime earlier that night.

The Royal Gazette understands that when the group of men resumed fighting at Ice Queen, Mallory intervened between two of the men.

The group then turned on Mr. Mallory, he was reportedly slashed open and then kicked to death.

But sources indicate that the weapon used to cut Mr. Mallory has yet to be found and that Police are set to mount and extensive search for it.

Yesterday, Police would not confirm whether the three men arrested in relation to Mr. Mallory's death will appear in court today.

While earlier reports stated only two men were in custody in connection with the death, in fact two 22-year-old men and one 19-year-old man were arrested on Saturday.

Witnesses are asked to contact Inspector Antoine Daniels at 295-0011 to aid Police in their investigations.

Ice Queen management and staff also extended their sympathies to the family of the young man.

"We offer our sincere condolences to the family and Tekle Mallory on the loss of their son and brother," said the statement. "This tragic loss of life is a loss for the whole Bermuda community."

The company, owned by businessman Lee White, thanked Police and ambulance staff for their quick attendance to the scene on Saturday morning.

And the statement thanked Police for reviewing the Paget Ice Queen physical layout in the aftermath of the deadly incident.
