Eighteen US and Canadian bloggers toured the Island this weekend, guests of the Department of Tourism, seeking to show digital media reps why the Island has “So Much More”.Representing culinary, family, fashion, ‘girlfriend getaways’ and general travel writers, the bloggers documented the trip through a variety of digital feeds, including Twitter, Instagram and their own blogs as well as a specially created Bermuda Twitter account, #inBermuda.“We were thrilled to have such a range of bloggers on-Island,” William Griffith, Director of Tourism said last night. “In today’s increasingly digital media landscape, bloggers play a very influential role in sharing their personal experiences to a loyal and targeted following.“This was a great way to expand beyond the traditional brick and mortar media to drive publicity and broaden exposure in the digital realm.”Mr Griffith added: “We were happy to see immediate response from the bloggers who were posting images and writing enthusiastically about their experience even while they were still here on the Island.“It’s great to see the reaction from those who experience Bermuda for the first time and realise that we truly do offer so much more.”The North American bloggers were able to tour and shop in Hamilton and St George’s, visit the South Shore beaches, enjoy a cruise in Hamilton Harbour, and enjoy such activities as paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkel.Restaurants at the Fairmont properties and others like Lido Restaurant, Henry VII and The Swizzle Inn were also visited.
