Burnell Cross, 56, of Scott's Hill Road, Sandys Parish will face trial on November 29 after he told the court he was defending himself.

Cross pleaded not guilty to charges of uttering offensive words in a public place, threatening behaviour, possession of an offensive weapon and intending to cause fear to Frank Farley. He denied all the charges.

Cross who has been a cab driver for the last two years, told Senior Magistrate Will Francis: "I was threatened and defended myself. I was called a black piece of sh** and I defended myself.'' Frank Farley, 54, an American visitor off the cruise ship Zenith , claimed a taxi driver held him at knifepoint after he accidentally hit his cab with the door of another cab.
