Alex Mingozzi and Matteo Marighella have made it three titles out of four in Bermuda after winning the ITF Beach Tennis International title yesterday at Horseshoe Bay, redeeming themselves from last year’s finals loss. The Italians battled the elements as well as their opponents over the weekend to set up their 6-0, 6-4 victory.Their foes, fellow Italians Marco Garavini and Paolo Tarreazi, battled admirably in the final but were always going to be up against it with their rivals. The Ladies final, also an all-Italian affair, saw Simona Bonadonna lose to Eva D’Elia and Laura Olivieri 6-2, 5-7, 7-6.Organisers Tony Brannon and Mark Cordeiro were delighted to see the competition capped off with two fascinating finals.“Getting through the weekend was tough due to the weather once again but we pulled it off with great patience from the players making it another successful year,” said Cordeiro. In the amateur events finals, Kim and Amanda Burns defeated Melissa Residic and Victoria Brewer to lay claim to the Ladies Doubles crown, while Andy Bray and Phil Vandonink beat Stuart Sith and David Jenkins to win the Men’s Doubles title.Cordeiro and Daniel Paynter beat Nick Kempe and Allison Towlson in the Mixed Doubles to win the title.
