A plane en route to Gatwick from Cuba diverted to Bermuda last night when a teenager passenger fell ill.

The 14-year-old girl reportedly had difficulty breathing and was suffering abdominal pains.

Accompanied by her parents, she was taken to hospital where she was treated and later discharged.

The Airbus 330 Thomas Cook flight continued to Gatwick.

* Meanwhile, early this afternoon a JetBlue plane from New York’s JFK airport travelling to Barbados was diverted to Bermuda as a result of a 35-year-old Barbadian man complaining of ill health.

He was taken to hospital where he is being assessed.
