Royal Gazette reporter Karen Smith has been named newspaper journalist of the year by the Bermudian magazine for the second time.

The magazine said the award, which she also won in 2001, would have been deserved for her "dogged pursuit of the Berkeley Institute construction story alone. But the prolific reporter again earns plaudits for her ability to tackle the toughest stories and wide range of subjects with authority, clarity and compassion".
