The 49-year-old taxi driver, who is recovering on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, picked up two men on Victoria Street near the Government Clinic around 5.15 a.m. last Saturday morning.

The passengers asked to be taken to Palmetto Road in Devonshire. When they arrived at Long Ridge Pass, the men allegedly grabbed the driver's money bag while the other inflicted a knife wound to his neck before fleeing on foot.

The taxi driver received assistance from a passing motorist and was taken to hospital where he required stitches.

One of the men is described as five-foot tall, medium-build black male of fair skin complexion between the ages of 16 and 19 believed to have been wearing cream coloured trousers and shirt. The other is said to be a six-foot tall, slim dark black man between the ages of 17 and 19 who was wearing black clothing.
