August 31 stabbing of a taxi driver.

The Royal Gazette understands that two 21-year-old Devonshire men will be charged in plea court this morning with attacking Leon Trott.

The 49-year-old taxi driver, who spent two weeks recovering on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, picked up two men on Victoria Street near the Government Clinic around 5.15 a.m. on the last day of August.

One of the passengers has been described as a medium build, five-foot-tall black male between the ages of 16 and 19. He was believed to have been wearing cream coloured trousers and shirt on the night of the attack.

The other is described as a six-foot-tall, slim black man between the ages of 17 and 19 who was wearing black clothing.

The passengers asked to be taken to Palmetto Road in Devonshire and when they arrived at Long Ridge Pass, one allegedly grabbed the driver's money bag while the other inflicted a knife wound to his neck before fleeing on foot.

Mr. Trott received assistance from a passing motorist and was taken to hospital where he required stitches.
