KBB spearheads coastline clean-up

The Ministry of Works and Engineering and Housing is joining forces with Keep Bermuda Beautiful to clean up Bermuda?s coastline this weekend.

They are urging the entire Bermuda community to come out to help.

On Saturday, September 18 from 9 a.m. to noon, divers in the water and clean-up crews on land will scour the coastline to pick up trash and debris.

Volunteers will be cleaning up a number of areas Island-wide.

Works and Engineering will assist with equipment, trucks and garbage bags and will take the garbage to the department?s disposal areas.

Government employees are being asked to join in as well as family, church or any other community groups.

Each year, the clean-up collects a substantial amount of garbage, carelessly dumped by persons using coastal areas.

Last year volunteers concentrated on cleaning up Hurricane Fabian related debris making it difficult to ascertain what was Fabian related and what was not.
