Although the visitor was able to surface without any injuries an investigation into the incident has now been launched by the Marine and Ports Division.

It is understood the victim was being helped off the ferry by an attendant when the vessel began drifting away from the dockside.

A Harbour Radio spokesman said: "A visitor with a scooter was being assisted by a crew member at the dockside when it appears that the ferry came away from the dock and the visitor ended up in the water. The matter is now under investigation.'' TRANSPORTATION TRA
