BDC: Cell mast safe

residents have been dismissed -- by the telecommunications company hoping to build the transmitter. In an advertisement in today's Royal Gazette , Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd. finally breaks its vow of silence on the row over the cellular tower which is being built in Warwick.

And company bosses have drafted in Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb to back up their claim.

The row hit the headlines last month when nearby residents claimed that the tower could emit cancer-causing radiation waves. Local householders formed a committee hoping to get planning permission for the tower revoked.

But today's advertisement, on Page 25, denies that there are any health risks associated with the antenna, claiming that the latest US research proves that the power from base stations is too low.
