Students at the Bermuda High School for Girls raised more than $3,500 for charity.

Donations were presented to four local charities at the final assembly of the school year.

Rochelle Simons received a cheque for $1,275 on behalf of the Women's Resource Centre, while Elisha Huttick, a community support worker, received $1,000 for the Family Centre.

Helen Wicks received $1,275 for the Bermuda Red Cross, while the Bermuda Sea Cadets were presented with $1,000 from the Secondary Department.

Linda Parker, Head of School, said: "We are proud of the work the students did to raise the money, and are happy to make donations to organisations who are doing stellar work in our community.

"We feel it is important for our students to donate time and raise money to help others. We continually encourage, support and advocate philanthropy at the school."
